Hello Kilo...I am curious now also. How was it used, where did you read it? My guess would be 'virtual splicing would be the insertion loss at any location in outside plant where equipment, or straight splices have been installed. If the electronic design predicts signal loss, input and output levels, suggested pad values and equalizers....then the blue prints, or the electronic design would be considered the virtual cable system and in elecronic design the levels are all predicted if everything is operating at optimum operating conditions. SOOOO, the 'virtual splicing' would be optimum splicing, On paper or, according to design.....The perfect splice. I don't know, I have made a guess. If you figure this out you will HAVE to post it...
