About twenty years ago, playgrounds around this country were being dismantled and carted off to scrapyards because they were no longer wholesome environments. The poorly attended facilities became the havens for ten-year-old bullies who eventually claimed the areas as their turf for their purposes, which were not socially accepted in general. Commerce was reduced from trading trinkets to drugs.
Wet Cement and this forum (lounge) is a public facility for the exchange of professional ideas, sharing knowledge, meeting customers, having fun, etc,etc. I would hope to never be within a hundred miles of some of these whacos. Bodily threats and crass language in public places are not socially acceptable to most people. A little of it can be forgotten, maybe. It is distasteful and an overdose of distaste is sickening, disgusting and not representative of the majority in any industry.
The administration of this site has sent another soft signal to the ten-year-olds. I don't think they will dismantle the the playground, but I hope admission will become a little more exclusive. Who wants to be shut out? Speak up!
