If you are looking for an in-house man to be multi talented and that can cure most that ails you, well than it needs to be fair. You need a comprhensive benifit program and paid vacation. And why start with the piddle of a week if the man is good and I do mean good give him 10-14 off the first couple of years.
If you are expecting him to relocate to the area help with the expenses, now I understand this is risky as employees come and go so offer to reimburse or pay a flat relocation bonus after 6 months.
Do not expect someone to come in, than answer to 5 different people all of which know little about the industry.
And if this is in-house it means that, you provide the truck and the gas and maint.
If it is a sub you want, take a look at what people are offering to pay and what the exp. subs are lauging at. Do the math yourself. Figure out out much footage one would average, add up the cost of vehicle maint. and fuel. Then tack on the hefty insurance premiums. Then figure the cost of living and ask yourself if the money is worth it. OH least we forget the taxman gets his share out of that too.
Just ask yourself if it is worth paying the extra to get someone that has few if any mistakes and will stay with you . As opposed to the paper trail and headache you get with constant new hires.
