Depending on what type of work you will be doing, you will need to barge all your heavy equipment (trucks, drills, plows, etc.) to Alaska. The days are very short this time of year. Did I mention the days are very short this time of year. And as Chris said, precipitation is a very real problem with 180 inches per year in some areas. The cost of living is also very high. 5X where we were. Some communities are very small with a very low female population. So you may want to make sure the girl friends of your crew members are willing to spend time in Alaska. This will make a much better local relationships.
