Dont worry about taking work away from us. Our most successful and profitable jobs are negotiated rather than bid. So you won't even be able to have a chance at bidding the jobs we do. To get to this level of owner confidence, you have to have a very long and good relationship with the owner(s) of the project(s).
You ask how we bid jobs? The same way we negotiate them. First of all, we know ALL OF OUR COSTS, from the administrative's salary to the last worker bee's salary. We know the cost of; money (interest), insurance, CPA, lawyers, rent, phones, office equipment, construction equipment, depreciation, taxes, licensing fees, SUTA, FUTA, advertisement, conventions, training, lost/stolen tools, property repair, gas, oil, etc. and the list goes on (I just gave you a starter list). Only you can figure your ALL your own costs. Then we take that cost of doing business and add our profit margin to the bid. We absolutely do not bid any job at someone else's "going rate" and/or so low we can't make money and pay our help well. Like I said before, If we can not make money at a job, we just don't bid it or want it. Simple isn't it!
