Like it was said A LOT of headache! But with effective leadership it is very doable. I have seen a lot of them fail, just due to people in leadership running business in to the ground.
I manage department of 20 MT techs (much bigger primadonnas than installers) and with clear expectations everything operates very smooth.
If you can find effective managers/sups you should certainly do it. Do not place in leadership role someone just because they have cable experince.
