You are correct. Instead of 2 crews doing what they do best and efficiently, you now have 1 crew doing the work of 2 and both tasks suffer quality and quantity.
When I was in middle management, I had a boss/owner of a good sized company wanting to do something like that. I finally told her that she needed to do my job while doing her job. She said That won't work. I said now you are catching on!
