Is it a bad idea to get into DSL, VDSL over POTS. Seems to be a lot of demand for techs in the rural northeast. Companies always advertising $40 to $60 Plus Per Diem or $3000 to $5000 per week. Seems to good to be true. I have tons of Cable and FIOS experience and the telecom experience that is related to those fields. Just never done DATA over the traditional Telecom POTS.
I have heard the horror stories of trying to get DSL and VDSL to work over the existing copper systems. Mostly because of how worn out the twisted pairs are. I can only assume the charge backs will get you REKT. I also wonder how long any tech can actually remain employed for hourly and per diem work given that reality. To me it seems like a trap but wanted to get an idea from any techs who are or have be dealing with this.
