IMHO you would be much better off learning fiber optic splicing than getting into coaxial (cable). There are way more ads looking for fiber splicers than coaxial splicers.
Now to answer your question, Its not hard to splice coax but like anything there are certain things you need to know to become marketable. You will need to learn how to properly prep, core, cut to length coaxial, then more often than not you will need to be able to read an RF signal level meter and/or sweep gear, as well as understand quasi-sine coaxial powering requiring a True RMS VOM, and be able to trouble shoot and set up forward and reverse RF levels. I could write a book on it but like I said, don't waste your time on coaxial, spend your time on fiber optics.
