Walkandroll.......I concur, the paper maps, especially for mapping. To me, land navigation and points of reference/interest are still and will always be the best way to get from A to B. Too much reliance on technology is a not a good thing IMO. This is my 40th year out here and I am still doing "it". The last few jobs I have had were extremely rural new builds and all I got was a highlighted crappy one page road map. Ya make chicken salad outta chicken shit sometimes to get the job done.
