I highly recommend going to the job 1st to see 1st hand versus jumping in feet 1st. Do some on job training and learn the techniques. Soft rock, hard rock, cobble stone, granite, clay. Different soil, different beast and all require different work methods. I'm certain you know this but It never hurts to remind someone.
I remember my first granite job and it ate me alive. I lost thousands however I learned what to do and what not to do.
