I am a seasoned cable Technician experienced in both HFC and GPON. I worked for Comcast and Verizon FiOS. I've been thinking about Getting some Field Experience with POTS and DSL. I am also familiar with it in General but have no field experience as far as the outside plant. I do have some experience in a central office environment, being familiar with twisted pair, wiring closets, cross connects and telecom equipment. So the whole in my skill set is the OSP specifically testing, fault isolation, troubleshooting and test equipment operation. I have recently had to turn down a few contracts because I lack the experience and it seems that these jobs are somewhat in demand. So can anyone recommend the best way to go about getting OJT in the field so I can fill this gap. Are there any contractors that would to take on a short term apprentice or exchange some labor for some OJT?
