I've done a lot of OSP work for GTE/Verizon....they like to work with small mom pop operations, that way they can control them, turn them off/on for work, they end up basically work as employees only they get paid as 1099 independent subs. They like these big maga prime contractors who say they can do it all, but in the end, it's the small independent contractor that will fix the problems and make the system work. With Mega Primes, they can get more plant built faster...doesn't mean better quality....just quantity. End result...the customer will be the ones that pay the price of a poor constructed system. Just be sure your work is done right...the first time. some advice: get familiar with REA Specs when working Verizon.
