That's why they all want 1099 workers so you don't have any rights as an employee.  plus it is unlawful to work most states in the field of catv and telcom that states require contractor license which takes normally 3 to 6 months and testing. They have to treat you as a w2 employee if you are not licensed by that state that you are doing work in. also they have to be a licensed contractor for any state that requires licensing just to sub to you.

We all have to serve someone.
