Sad to say it but boring is a dying business in Texas telecom. Too may used AT rigs have finally flooded the market and now little rinky dink contractors are able to get a great bore rig for $80k-$100k. We stopped bidding in Houston last year because we were losing boring bids at $2/ft. You read that right... $2/ft is too high in Houston. I just sold one of my dirt rigs, but still have 2 AT rocks rigs and a JT10 that I keep busy. I probably won't buy anymore because in 5 years, bore machines will be like mini excavators in Texas. Every Joe Blow with an F-350 will have one and they'll be fighting with each other for crumbs. It's time to pivot the business plan.
