You agree, by signing on the bottom line and all of the adendums, that you'll provide work in return for a set price to be paid within a set period of time. In todays world, before somebody gives you something (car, furniture, etc.) they make sure that your credit is good. Why aren't you people checking out these companies that you are going to be paid by before, in essence, telling them that you'll GIVE them the work? Check out Dunn & Bradstreet (www.dnb.com) 1-800-234-3867 for larger companies....and www.experian.com for smaller companies. Dunn & Brad show contractor leins. Yes, there are a few large companies I've got a report on that owed thousands and thousands in contractor liens and were years behind to creditors. Be a good businessman/woman and check these companies out before signing on...Personally I'd rather spend $25 to see how they pay and how many contractors they owe, than lose thousands and thousands by "trusting" them.
