I don’t know all the details of the project or the experience of the contractor. That said, There is a difference between underground and aerial insurance coverage. Insurance companies have become very narrow on what the cover. Your company and your contractor should check to see if he is covered for “aerial” work. Bidding that low leads me to believe he has no aerial experience. If that is true he won’t be around long because of an accident, losing his insurance coverage, working below cost or all the above. A lot of things can and do go wrong wrecking out aerial plant. So be sure he has the proper insurance coverage for the job at hand. Be careful.
Working below low cost or even break even does no one any favors!
