Construction employment totaled 7,318,000 in October...up 4.7% over the past year. Hourly earnings in the construction industry averaged $30.21 in October, up 3.9% from a year ago. This is the highest rise since 2009, up from $27.30 last year. Even with these pay rates, 80% of the firms in this survey say they are having trouble filling hourly positions.
