Signs Google Fiber was going to slow or shut down

I lost my job in Louisville as a result of the Google Fiber Project shutting down. In September of 2016, I started to suspect the project might shut down, but I was assured that my suspicions were unfounded. Just wondering how many other people, if any, saw the writting on the wall around the same time. Am I a victim of hindsight bias, or was it really as obvious as I beleive it was in 2016?
