Info on working in Colorado

Is the work plentiful year round with all the snow? Is there alot of underground work? I hear it's hard to breathe out there in the mile high. I am 52 and poles are becoming harder to handle. Been in cable 15 years looking for a place to end my career and retire. Any info is greatly appreciated.
