Mick.... sorry for your loss! When I was a cable pup back in the early 80's an old lineman showed me how to test a pole to see if it is energized or hot. He told me to use the back of my hand to the pole face. He said if the pole was hot the hairs on my hand would stand up or tingle. He told me to keep my hand off the pole and never use the palm of the hand as the current could contract the muscles and make my hand 'Grab' the pole. That was the old school way to do it back in the day and I am not suggesting that this method replace a meter. Yet if it saves one life.........
