hey Loco...don't recall Pearl Beer.  Back in 1966 I once spliced a cable system located in the mountains of Pa.  It was in the summer months, I stayed at a ski resort-cheap, me and another splicer were the only two in the whole damn place. Every morning I woke up after a rough late night in local bars, I was sicken by a local paper mills smell lingering in the valley.  You are so right...Paper Mill smell is the worst.  
Then years later  around 1985 I did a long haul fiber job from Savannah to Jacksonville along the Rail Road ROW...Some where south of Savannah, I woke up to that same nasty paper mill smell...You never forget a smell like that...even when sober !
