I remember......while doing CATV.....all pagers (remember pagers?) called all back to the office. One of the lads had a serious family emergency and really had to take off suddenly.
The manager called all in to "help Ralphie in time of need." The plan was to spread his route among other installers......to help Ralphie, right?
SO everyone lost an hour in and out to the office. Everyone ended up working late. AND YES, some jobs did not go in but the back charges did go out.
The old dawgs who had seen this before had their pagers in their trucks and missed the call.
They did their work...had a beer...went home.
A stand up company would have rescheduled Ralphie's work and told the prime that shit happens. The whole reason the prime was using contractors was to skip the human part of installatiion work.
