They were not outlawed here in the USA because of emissions, They were outlawed because they had no torque breakaway clutch on them and the GOV. regulations that were imposed made them impossable to drive an anchor to depth. The power head on a BT-350 is the same as the as the Cut off saw that they sell thousands here in the USA so It is not an emission issue, Just a safety issue.
