Not exactly sure what you asking here, but if I understand correctly. As with just about any field of work being a contractor, you make more money, bear all the expenses and set the conditions you are willing to work under. As an employee you have a fairly stable work enviroment, usually benefits, a lower rate of pay and give up most of your job freedom for these things. Being a contractor it was feast or famine you had to save in the good times and being an employee it is a constant cash flow at a lower rate. Being a succesessful contractor all depends on whether you have the self control (this includes everyone that has access to the bank accounts) or not to manage the funds to survive and grow the business.
