Here is contractor 101:
YOU evaluate every offer of work and present a bid to complete it according to the specifications offered.
SO,,,,,,,,,,you are offered some jobs near where you live and park your rig. You calculate costs and profit after overhead and send in a price.
YOU will be taken off the list of bidders / contractors.
THEY expect you to take all jobs until they fire you or you quit.
Profit.........really?
