gainmaker it is, the tap in the headend backwards is being used as a combiner, so it takes chanels 2,3,4,5 ect and combines them into a single coax its designed to be backwards.
also like to mention the 10.5 EQ its in the interstage, this amp is designed with that 10.5 EQ for your application, so leave it alone, the Fwd EQ is 6 or 5 (cant read it) top left also has a 20 pad in the fwd, that is stepped on hard
the headend amp levels should be looked at on the inputs and outputs, (MAKE SURE S1 switch is on 2 manual mode) and if 8db is your input number, see if its close. 8 db inputs sounds low to me unless its a qam channel your using as a test channel.
