My father was captured on Corregidor, survived the Bataan Death March, the Hell Ships, and 39 months of captivity. He never talked about it much but the few times he did were some real eye openers. The WWII Japanese military makes ISIS look like a bunch of school girls. If you ever get the chance pick up a book about the Rape of Nan King. The Japanese use to post the number of kills attributed to different officers like baseball scores in the newspapers.

Speaking of books Unbreakable was a great one. The movie didn't even touch on half what he went through.
