It's 10.50 for dirt and $32 for rock in Austin right now BUT they don't pay for........vaults,cut restore for concrete or asphalt, flowable fill for pot holes in the streets "which there are A LOT OF" and the contractor is responsible for finding every utility regardless of wether the locates provided are correct and a city inspector must approve of all the pot holes and verify every utility was found before work can begin, so no making a window 2' each side of the mark and drilling through the hole in Austin. Along with all the other crazy environmental BS from the city and traffic control its just a money looser been there done that. The group in charge for google and mastec were great people, always paid on time, and in general were extremely helpful. The city is easy to work with and by easy I mean its there way or your shut down lol. Quite simply it needs to pay 15 or so in dirt and 45 in rock as composite prices to be profitable for the contractor doing the work. Austin is expensive to operate in, long hauls to get rid of mud, 1 acre of open ground to park equipment on is at least 1500 a month, traffic is beyond terrible, hotels are above avg in price, but if the price ever comes up to a profitable level I would go back.
