Begin by insisting on identification for him and ALL his business licenses.
 
As what bank he will be using to pay you. Insist on a contact name......you can't ask a bank how much money the guy has but you can insist on enough contact information to discover if a series of one thousand dollar checks will clear this month. How does he plan to pay you???
