I understand where you are coming from. The best paying jobs I worked were piece, but the best work sites were hourly with a production bonus. It never made a difference to me as far as how I was paid the quality remained the same, but there were those that would go as fast as they could and then leave when the gigs started catching up to them. I think the issue is more about integrity and training than how the guys are paid. If the industry went the way of the telco's then there would only be a few big contractors, the little guy would be frozen out.
