My last one paid everyone only because we turned the cops on him when his checks bounced. He screwed many folks but employees & contractors got the first money.
The one before that got hit by massive back charges because he sent idiots into the field. When he couldn't pay his office overhead, himself and contractors he left the state....as the cops were closing in on him for criminal stuff.
The one before that just took the money and ran, eventually dying out of state. His relatives thought it was heartless to sue them to get a slice of his property.
The one before that left the state without paying subs.
The take away is to get extensive information on anyone you work for. Do good work. Insist on prompt inspection and payment. Only work for companies with an office in your state. Be lucky.
