What they did is pretty shitful.....+...it is also illegal. Part of the way Worker's Compensation works = you give up the right to sue for injuries in exchange for UNLIMITED medical coverage of work related injuries.
So I would sugest you find the Worker's Comp people within the insurance agency for your state and make an appointment. There are triple damages possible for not having that insurance in place......I am not a lawyer...but do not let it stop with what the company tells you. Your work situation defines your status as an employee..not what they say.
