Re: Explain a Hotleg

We seldom lose line power, when the houses lose power our power meters are still turning, we are fed from the primary. The batteries only run the modules for 10 minutes until the natural gas generators come on. The system I am in has redundancy built into everything, dual power supply modules that back each other up, dual route fiber feeds to the nodes and dual reciever and transmitters in the head end. The whole idea was reliability for phone service. We were originally bankrolled by Northern States Power out Minniapolis (now Excel Energy) and they didn't hesitate to spend the money if it meant reliablity.
