In 1977, yes, prior to Al Gore's internet, we at Jones Intercable got 8 hours pay for being on call for the week in addition to the overtime. Once we got to 7 installer - techs - one of our techs came up with an idea that we would all rotate and take call one day per week, which was really cool as they let us run a truck on most any call, but your next day on call was 6 days away and a different day of the week....never got burn't out was the outcome.
