Id be lying if I said I fully understand how they do it. But heres what I do know. They use the same formula everytime, and the formulas they use have been accepted by a wide range of people. Politicians, Business, Labor, etc..
What some people want to do is say the formula is valid as long as it says what they want it to say. For example, some of the same people that question the reults of the formula under Obama, are the same people who praise the results during Reagan. If you remember, when unemployment was going up no one took issue with the numbers.
This is why I cant wait for Obama to get out of office. Once all the rhetoric and BS is removed for the equation, the Obama Presidency will be viewed much different than what it is now. When you talk facts and numbers, which is most of what history does, you will find that under Obama unemployment and the budget deficit are lower than when he took office. These are major factors when considering the scale of Presidency.
