The fiber management trays in lid in these nodes are horrible...maybe the laser is clipping when it is closed and when you open the lid a bend in the pigtail is antenuating the Tx enough to stop the clipping...have also seen this happen when put in a node ped where the pigtail going into the lid was in a bind for a prolonged period and when you open the lid the change in the bend would change the output power of the tx.. just some ideas would love to know what you find out...
