Beretta Firearms announced yesterday afternoon that it will move all its manufacturing operations from Maryland to Tennessee. They listed the following reasons for the move, The passage last year of Maryland's new restrictive gun laws, and the ever increasing tax burden MD has imposed on businesses. Beretta stated they could not see how they could consider to continue to do business in a state that has placed such brudonsome restrictions on it's customers. This coupled with 6 new taxes the state has imposed, makes doing business in MD unrealistic for them.
Last year when the state announced it would be enacting even stricter gun laws, Beretta said it would consider moving its operations from the state if they passed.
Beretta is constructing a new 15 million dollar plant in Tennessee and has offered all its Maryland employees the option of moving there at the companies expense. Beretta expects their move to the new location to be completed by mid 2015.
Looks like the liberals in MD just shot themselves in the foot. Not only do they lose the jobs this company takes with it, they lose the tax revenue and the workers. Talk about a lose, lose, lose, situation.
