I have tried to figure out the points system. I believe a couple of dice are involved in the process
I have seen new connects coded out as restarts meaning the points are really low but the job is squeezed into your route.
I have seen over 20 points to add wifi to an already pre-wired apartment complex with basic expanded bulk service, meaning I just use a splitter and provision the wifi. No need to worry about a bad drop or doing a re-wire of the address.
Then again I've seen less than 14 points for a house, reconnect, meaning the drop might need to be replaced, 4 additional outlets that may need to be run from new, two DVRs, phone and wifi.
My 'jaw dropper' the other day was wifi, 3 x HD boxes, 3 x DVR boxes and 8 additional TVs, I was there so long I felt like part of the family and was close to picking out my own room !!
I try to keep an open mind and concentrate on the job at hand.
In our area it is 96 points for a full day but often we hit around 130 or 150. We call round the other techs at the end of the day and help out. Our area is quite large at about 160 miles from one end to the other. I don't really care about the points, you have to be there at the job until you're done or the issue is fixed, it's not like you can leave if you hit the time limit for that job, "Right Mrs. Johnson, that's you're 12 points, call in for another appointment" LOL.
