Even if you are right, want to know the difference? No one made him out to be a hero or a patriot, and he did nothing illegal, nor did he raise arms against his own country. Not defending him in any way, but there is a huge difference.
Also, after doing some research, I find nothing that shows any reversals on his political status, all news outlets say the same. Yes, he donated money to the Democratic party, a huge sum of 4,000.00 (thats 4 thousand dollars )between 1987 and 1992, but all show him as still being a registered republican. So provide your proof.
