Don't know why it happens but it definitly does. on the older 750 Mhz systems we work on if you have more than 5 dB reverse tilt at the EOL the MER will fail and needs to have an LEQ there or sometimes a tap or 2 before.
On the 870 systems we work on we use FST taps with internal EQs but it is a whole different design than a retrofit 750 to 870 MHZ design. Trying to Keep the forward High & low at a forward tilt & the return levels to hit the amp at 15 dB really limits the amount of taps that you can use between amps.
