KCable you are correct. The UBT has a port that has a 9db lower output than the other two, so it can be used for an express line. But like Buffalo and you said, they were not designed for long cascades. We use the 870 MHz version and when they fail we replace them with the 1 GHz version, approximatley 70% being first in cascade, 29.9% being second and handful being third with no LE's in the system. UBT's are always first when in a cascade and when used as a teriminating amp the main out is terminated, HGD's are always a terminating amp and on the places where we have three it will be two UBT's in a row feeding either an HGD or a UBT. Since the cascade is never more than three deep, distortions are minimal. When we balance we put all of the padding at the input when possible, if we need more it goes in the interstage, always 0's in the outputs. The system was built with 1GHz spacing so we sometimes get hot input levels. I have yet to see the sweep issue KCable was talking about, it may have to do with where we place the padding or the spacing.
