Hi John!! Great literary lesson you gave us here!!! I was just wondering if you could go a little deeper in your lesson.
In Toast's post, I noticed that he put the word spade in quotations. Care to school us on what quotations do to a meaning of word, in the literary sense?
dfw, I wouldn't sweat it. People like toast throw out terms like that just to try to get you all riled up, just so he can say 'you are using the race card'. As you can see, the good ole days of racist being man enough to be racist are gone. Now we get the kind of BS that Toast is shoveling. He gets to play tough because he used a term, but at the same time he hides behind the literal meaning of the term. BS... pure BS...
Toast is no racist. In fact, Toast and scary people like him are who make the real racist look bad...LOL....
