A Pennsylvania man accused of swindling a local man over a piece of heavy equipment was arrested Thursday night at the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.
Vincent J. Barbagallo, 39, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., was charged with theft of property more than $10,000 and less than $60,000 by Sheriff’s Cpl. Clyde Sulcer.
According to the warrant, Barbagallo is accused of stealing nearly $30,000 from a local farmer.
Acting as a heavy equipment broker, he allegedly received a check for $27,900 from a Henry County farmer for an unspecified piece of equipment owned by another man.
He then pocketed the money.
He was arrested in Pennsylvania on a fugitive from justice charge before being extradited to Henry County.
Barbagallo’s bond was set at $25,000. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Henry County General Sessions Court.
