my guess is his meter has to be reprogrammed every time he powers off and on, or he would not be looking at the motherboard battery, the mother board battery does store all your info it is still replaced when you do the recal, if the meter just does not turn on then that is the external battery pack, then you would be correct. But if he is looking at the battery on the motherboard because his meter will not store info he needs a recal and the internal battery gets replaced automatically. if you use a reputable recal company.
