You are right, but you must have a police report for insurance to reemburse you.  That is why most businesses carry employee dishonesty policys.  Personally, I carry $500,000. worth.

At the same time, if you prosocute, the industry can get rid of some of these dishonest ones that cause us all to have bad names.  Hard to work with that felony conviction.
