Grayco is a prime in Houston. The area they cover is around the Galleria and Reliant Stadium. Dorkum is a sub-contractor working for a different prime, ITG. Their area of coverage is the SW side of town, including Sugarland and Richmond. These two contracting companies have very different styles of management. Grayco will load you up everyday and give you more than you can handle. You will stay out to at least 9 pm almost every day (which sucks because that puts you at about 90 hrs/week most weeks), but the money is there. Dorkum will only give you an average of 5-6 jobs per day and you're usually home by 5 or 6, but your obviously not earning as much as you would be at Grayco. My suggestion: find out what drives you: money or quality of life. As a contractor, you're not going to have both. Once you are comfortable with that decision, the company choice would be easy.
