I was an MDU upgrade contrator for years and would suggest that you continue to charge for splice on a footage basis. You should be getting paid about $100 for an 18x24 lockbox if its new build or $125-$130 if you are replacing a lock box & retro splicing whats already there. The only way you will make more splicing by the piece is if your footages between Lock boxes /devices are short; three 8 port taps in a LB is common. I have been paid footage rate for over 1500 ft to splice 1 tap in an MDU LB. Good luck!!!
