Remember cablomodem are bi-directionnel operating machine.
Forward section 50 to 870-1,000MHz is usually no problem as we aligned the 64 QAM channels 6 dB lower than the analog channels and 256 QAM 10 dB lower.
The return system is usually a problem, this is why we use a unit at the headend that tell us what level we hit the CMTS between 5-42 MHz. This unit talk back to the technician a each amp. and node that is been aligned for the return section.
For this we use + 15 dBmV at the reurn input, between 5 and 42 MHz as reference at each node and amp.
If you CMTS is set properly and do not have INGRESS and CPD all should be OK.
