I pay my lead QC a base Salary of $950.00 a week. The rest I pay on a piece rate, I am currently doing drop surveys on a project and I pay $9.50 for each survey. This is a staking sheet with a hand drawn picture of the location from Fiber Tap on the pole line to the NIU. The incentive is that if the survey is incorrect or does not contain the data that is requested then they do not get paid for the survey. It also serve's as a inventory sheet for the owner.
QC is the only way to continuously generate revenue, No QC= Bad work, even from the best lineman/splicer. Which in turn means you lose the contract when the MSO discovers the Bad work. At best you are sending Guys back to a location, and I don't care how much a job is paying. The second trip cost the contractor Money.
